GEORGE LYNCH Gets Hitched: Photos Available
May 23, 2006Legendary guitarist George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB) married his girlfriend Danica on Saturday, May 6 in the Yucca Valley area of California. According to one person (DJStereoMike) who attended the ceremony, "The wedding was to be held in a small chapel in Pioneertown, which was like a little (make that tiny) town, complete with a daily shoot-out, so that should give you an idea of what it's all about. They picked this location for a number of reasons, one being sentimental — this area is where George's parents met.
"It was a nice little gathering, and Lynch regulars Andrew Freeman, Gerry Ganaden, Fro, Matt I-can't-spell-his-last-name from ESP, and Jeff Pilson, amongst others, were there. Pretty much all of George's immediate family was there, and of course Danica had family there as well
"George was COMPLETELY decked out in cowboy attire, right down to chaps, a knife, and of course a six-shooter! I joked with him about this being the Brokeback Wedding, and should I wear Wranglers, except I'm not a fan of the male cameltoe (I opted for Levi's....)! On the one hand, it was VERY different to see him dressed this way, but he looked GREAT!!! Most of us were dressed western style, so it was fun to have that theme.
"The service was very casual, yet still with some tradition... Matt was the best man, and the wedding procession consisted of Danica and her kids and family. When they walked in, George got a little misty, and actually wiped away a tear! It was sweet, especially considering some of the shit he's been through in the past, and it was very cool to see him so happy.
"He read a poem to Danica, then sang a Jack Johnson song to her whilst playing the electric, with Gerry and Andrew on accoustic and Fro on the tambourine.
"The pastor did his thing, and then pronounced them man and wife. George motioned to us that we should then throw rice, which no one had, but I thought how cool would it have been if we had all thrown picks??? DAMMIT, why didn't I think of that ahead of time?
"They then headed outside to a pair of waiting horses, so they could 'ride off into the sunset,' even though it was like 140pm. They each mounted, and George's horse was apparently an ex-race horse, so it started off at a walk, then a trot, and then a gallop. It was hilarious, I guess George couldn't stop him, and the next thing you know, George is out of sight!!! Fortunately he got him turned around and it was all good."
